Accessibility
Last updated: September 21, 2026
ARMARTRA OBISPO INC wants every guest to be able to read barbcide.com, book a table and eat here comfortably. This statement sets out what we have done, what we know is imperfect, and how to reach a person if something gets in your way.
1. The standard we work to
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, and to keep barbcide.com consistent with the Americans with Disabilities Act and the California Unruh Civil Rights Act. Accessibility is treated as part of building and maintaining the site, not a one-off audit.
2. What we have built in
- Keyboard access — every menu, tab, gallery frame and form control can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus ring on each one.
- A skip link at the top of every page, so you can jump past the header straight to the content.
- Text alternatives on meaningful images; decorative images are hidden from assistive technology so they do not add noise.
- Semantic structure — real headings in order, real lists, real buttons and landmarks, so screen readers can navigate by structure.
- Labelled form fields with errors announced in text next to the field they belong to, not by colour alone.
- Colour contrast checked against the AA thresholds for body text and interface elements.
- Reduced motion — if your system asks for less animation, the slider, ticker and scroll effects stop automatically.
- Responsive layout that works down to small phones and stays usable at 200% zoom without horizontal scrolling.
3. Known limitations
We would rather tell you than let you find out:
- The embedded Google map in the contact section is third-party content and we cannot control its accessibility. The full address is always written out in text beside it, and we will happily give directions by phone.
- The display typeface used for large decorative headings is ornate by design. Every heading is real text, so it scales and can be read by a screen reader, but if it is hard on the eye the same information appears in plain type in the body text below it.
4. In the restaurant
- Step-free access from the marketplace entrance to our counter and dining tables.
- Accessible restrooms are available in the shared marketplace building.
- Large-print and read-aloud versions of the menu on request — just ask a member of the team.
- Service animals are welcome throughout.
- Tell us about a mobility, sensory or dietary need when you book and we will set the room up for it before you arrive.
If you need to check any of the above for a specific visit, call ahead on (878) 224-1352 and we will confirm exactly what to expect.
5. Tell us about a barrier
If any part of this site or of a visit did not work for you, we want to hear about it. Please include the page address and a short description of what happened, and we will get back to you.

We aim to acknowledge every report within 3 business days and to give you a fix or a workaround within 10 business days. Where something will take longer, we will tell you why and offer another way to get what you needed.
6. How we keep it up
We review the site against WCAG 2.1 AA when we make significant changes, and at least once a year. Reviews combine automated testing with keyboard-only and screen-reader passes over the main paths: reading the menu, viewing the gallery and sending a reservation request.
7. Formal complaints
If our response does not resolve the issue, you may contact the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division at ada.gov. We would much rather sort it out with you directly first.
